  Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses

  allow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.

  i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.

  some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

  It was my understanding that this site welcomed both views, I was mistaken.

  Well let me insert my thoughts : This is an open forum for discussion and I like to hear both sides so as to formulate my own opinions. I share Brother Jeramy's take on what's happening in the org and now have peace of mind. I was not born in and find the Kingdon hope read as the main theme of the Bible. It's there from Gen to Rev. for everyone humble enough too see it. He has been an encouragemnent to some of us and I would hate to see him go on account of him being treatyed poorly here.

  Everyone benefits from hearing out all the options if you don't want to just be a YES man. It's called taking responsibility for your own spirituality whatever that may be.

  The org, it's money problems ans other stuff!

  hi there, although i have been a lurker here for a while now i've not yet posted a new topic, so here goes nothing lol.. i have been thinking a lot lately on all the changes and the branch visits, specifically the uk branch visit where apparently it has bean mentioned the great tribulation is about to start.. since i've not heard the full talk and only heard certain items from it i got to thinking that maybe this is the org's way of saying the watchtower is about to go down due to all the cover ups and the long list of discrepancies.. maybe i am way off the mark here, what does everone else think?.

  I think they are up to speed on another possible stock market crash or worst coming up this fall. The worst months for the market are usually in sept - oct. Better get those contributions in now before your savings tank eh ? I'm all cash in my retirement account right now, waiting for the forthcoming market correction that's taking it's sweet time. Being in the market has always made me very anxious, reason for my extreme caution. Once read an Awake article on a brother that went all in the market to make a killing so that he could quit his job an pioneer. I had a similar incident in '08 myself, how dumb I was !

  The ONLY basis for power and control is the parable of "the faithful and discreet slave" ??

  so, it seems that the only basis for the governing body / organization's claim to have divine backing and therefore control and power is based on the scripture at matthew :.

  "who really is the faithful and discreet slave?"....

  if that is correct, and this scripture has been thoroughly de-bunked in many other threads, then the fact is the emporer has no clothes on!.

  Right on Bro Jeramy,

  I was thinking of putting into writing and starting a thread on why I want to get active again. VERY well said ! I have a small list at home that I look at during Bible study to remind me, same line of thought. Am enjoying your comments, they are building and balanced.

  I'm a little different, for me it was and is beneficial, but being new I lacked balance and paid for it with my health. On the road to recovery now, going forward I will not be someone's yes man nor puppet.

  This is great am learning a lot ! These were things I was afraid to ask before on account of being too timid. Finally standing up for myself thanks to as friend.

  Not surprised at any of this, thought it would make for a good post. I studied with one, super nice guy but a little slow about everything asides from GB teachings, a real company man. I knew something was off at first but kept it to myself. In the end I learnt a lot about human nature and psychology through observation and trial and error. It was a very hard but needed life lesson for me. I survived and still love the brothers not the Borg.

  I would chance to say all anointeds I've met lack balance to a greater degree than the R&F
